Worth to know about the Messerschmitt 262:
Since 1939 developped, in 1944 the first jet fighter in the world was in mission as a reconnaissance aircraft, fighter and bomber
, but it played no major role because of the allied air superiority. But the interest of the allied forces at the end of the war was very big, because the miracle bird with its maximum speed of over 870 km/h was the fastest plane of its time.
The first operational jet fighter in the world, the Messerschmitt 262, is a classic of aviation technology. But the ME 262 is not only because of its revolutionary drive an icon. The Messerschmitt engineers succeeded, albeit unintentionally, an until now admired design, which is hard to overtop in lightness, harmony and independence. Americans, British and Soviets secured a lot of flying exemplars, integrated it into their own air force or used them as a training aircraft.
Today only 10 original storm birds of the ME 262 are preserved and are strewed about the whole world, including the "Schwarze X" ("Black X"), the "Gelbe 7" ("Yellow 7") and the "Weisse 3" ("White 3").
